Micronesia is not a single country, but refers to a loose collections of countries in the Western Pacific Ocean. The area of Micronesia consists of eight groups of islands, numbering over 2000 in all, East of the Philipines and North of Papua, New Guinea and the Equator.

The Federated States of Micronesia is one of the countries in Micronesia and consits of four different states--Pohnpei, Kosrae, Yap, and Chuuk. This country is spread over 1,100,000 square miles in the North Pacific with 607 islands.
